Still have them. They were a bit dented in the front.

Making a bit more progress. Almost fired up, but the injectors were clogged. We sent them out to be rebuilt. Still need to do the final cable mgmt once we have it running!

Finally got it fired up! However, no oil pressure!! Turned it off immediately. We believe the oil pump needs to be primed. I purchased a new oil pump kit, more oil, filter, and petroleum jelly. I will stuff the oil pump gears and housing with petroleum jelly, change the oil and filter and see if that does the trick! The engine had been sitting since January, so based on reading posts on Jeepforum.com, I think this is the correct course of action.

Once everything was wired correctly, the Jeep started right up. I am anxious to get oil pressure and hear her run some more!

Nice buy! Motor looks great but one thing that jumps out at me is the power steering pump. The top where the cap is, buy some black paint and paint it! lol sorry I'm into details and with such a nice looking engine compartment that just stuck out to me.

LOL!! That bugs me, too! Also, the water pump was never painted and it has some surface rust on it. I need to address both!

:-)

Rebuilt the oil pump and stuffed if full of petroleum jelly to prime it! Messy job, but she fired up and had great oil pressure.

Engine runs great!! Still need to install the throttle and throttle valve cables. After that, it will be drivable and I can spend some time getting it dialed in!

The combination of the MSD and the Howell makes for a neat setup. It starts immediately and already seems to idle quite nicely. Once again, I need to put some miles on it.

Amazing find and amazing price! Jeeps are too expensive in Texas, that's for sure. Thanks for posting all of the photos. Keep us informed on how the projecet goes. I'd love to see some photos of the interior. Thanks to your dad for encouraging you to pursue this CJ!

Ran the engine a bit more today and finished some cable management under the hood. I am having someone come over to help me with the Lokar cables on Tuesday.

FamilyCJ: I touched up the power steering pump just for you! :-)

Ken: Here are few more photos, including one of the interior. I plan on replacing the seats and either installing carpet or possibly Line-X it.

She cleaned up great! Congrats on getting her running well. I'll be happy when we finally get to that point.
