I appears to me a double letter road is a less traveled or secondary road, ( county road ?) For instance, traveling down RT. 68 from Rolla going south, the first cross road may be AA, 10 miles later HH is next, then JJ ,

I figured you knew, but I wasn't sure if all states posted them like that. We have some here that are three different designations. It can get confusing.

Got a start on my york OBA today. I ran the air supply hose to the clean side of the air filter.

Notice in the next picture how low the oil fill/vent tube is. It was this way when I took the manifold off the 304, I left it in place for 2 reasons. First I tried to remove it with no luck, 2nd the plug wires have a lot more room to not interfear with anything. There is a 3rd, I didn't want to spend the money for a new one. I painted it silver to match, and bought a new cap.

I have roughly 16 hours on the 360, so far no leaks from the manifold ends (I sealed them with Right Stuff) and no problems with the short oil fill tube.

I haven't put the MSD box on yet, still running the stealth HEI.

I also ordered a 15 gallon fuel cell yesterday, the factory tank is taking a beating from all the rocks on Missouri trips. I'm also going to set the rear Dana 44 back at least 4", so the factory tank won't work.
I ordered the tank from Summit Racing, I talked to the salesman about using foam in the tank, I'm not going to use foam in it.

I also have a fuel cell in my 5, I think ( and the salesman did also) that the ethanol in the gas is melting the foam, I keep getting pieces of it in my clear filter.

You ain't kidding that your tank/skid has taken some abuse. What is the purpose of putting foam in the tank? Never heard of that before.

The Foam acts as a baffle to keep the fuel from slushing around and starving the fuel pump. Sometimes I wish my fuel cell had foam in it... Its been known to struggle while wheeling when it gets below 1/4 tank..

Just did a little research, there are a number of different kinds of foam. I read numerous reports of foam breaking down, in the cell.

One interesting thing I read was the use of the common white wiffel ball being used in cells.

Bill one of the reasons for the letters has to do with speed limits. All of the letter roads are 55 mph. Number roads can be 55, 60, 65, or 70. Screwed up if you ask me. You can drive down this road by my place and its B then it turns to D then back to B. It's not a problem living here but if you travel and aren't familiar with the roads it can get confusing. Also many of these blacktop letter roads haven't been paved all that many years. This one by my place used to be gravel in the early 60s. I get hot every time we go somewhere and try to know what road is what, just ask my wife about that!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend out at the campground. Glad you didn't get blown away too!

Nice to see you getting even more work done. That onboard air is gonna be great. Oh and maybe you need a new skidplate.

Thanks Jim for the road letters! And speed info. After 16 years of traveling in MO. I'm used to it.

It wasn't very windy, just wet, we had a great family weekend. And you know how I feel about spending time with the Grandson!

The skid plate could be replaced, there is also something wrong inside the tank also. The whole thing was taken off one of the other Jeeps at Billy's Ranch for wayward Jeeps. The fuel cell inside the tub , with moving the axle back ( this winter) make the most rational thing to do at this point.

It's a wix, it is a inch taller so the lid stickes up, ( like back in the day) . I went by a JeepHammer post a while back. He stated for a 12" diameter filter, for every 100 cubic inches, should have 1" of height. Not having anything else to go on that's what I did.

While Skerr was busy catching all the parts in a tarp that fell off his newly acquired Willys 3B, I installed the fuel cell in the Q-trac Jeep.

Plumbing tomorrow , I need to get some 8n fittings.paint will come later, I need to get it runnable for a Jeeping trip to Indiana (Badlands) Saturday.

I should have added its the factory housing. With the adapter for the Quadrajet and the line in the top, there's 1/4" clearance with the hood closed.

uh-huh... so everything that has a body attached to it ISN'T driveable!? And the things that fell out from under my brand-spanking new CJ3B weren't parts. It was either coagulated iron oxide or something alive!

Jokes on you, the pickup does will run, it just doesnt stop. And the Q-trac jeep is drivable, so there, I haven't taken the old tank out yet.

And guess what I have? That's right, a narrow trac axle with 1 piece axle shafts, you have the gears out of it.

And that's not all, feast your eyes.
