Can't pull up the 39A. Hughesnet is malfunctioning... again! How much was it?

A round that I feel like outperforms the 22 mag, and I have each of them, is the .17 HMR. Check that out, Bill. Very fast, very effective, fun to shoot. But it would be a bolt action, not a lever.

Bass pro shops are a little high. It was the easiest to find.

Looking for a lever action.

The Henry. I can buy it local for $479 new.

image-1227307544.jpg

22 ammo as you know is hard to come by right now. My coworker waited for 6 months to buy a 22 mag. He had already bought the ammo, he will sell it for what he paid 500 rounds for $148. He ended up with a 2lr. He should have shopped where I do.
He paid $430 for the Henry 2lr with a Octagon barrel all blued. I can buy the same one for $329 at the mom and pop gun/sporting shop.

Probably a way off track comment, but I love my Marlin .22 mag! It's seven shot, bolt action, stainless with black stock, micro groove barrel, and it shoots and handles like a dream!

Unexploded, 10 ring clay.

The truck as taken through the hole in the clay. Something in the range of 80 or so yards.

Not off track at all Daniel. I appreciate your input. This is Primarily deciding what I want to spend $ wise.
My small amout of research shows about 50/50 vs the 2 rifles. Maybe 60/40 in favor of the Marlin.

In that case, I bought this gun 10 or so years ago from Wal-Mart for $270 I think.

I don't own a .17 HMR, but if I had to choose between the two today, it would be a very hard decision.

Danny Skipper what in god creation are you doing talking to Bill about guns?

You see them glasses on his head? Them aint Coke Bottom glasses no sire! Them is a whole six pack of Coke bottom Glasses on each side!

According to his wife Bill never planed on getting into Jeepin on purpose it just that he cant see where he is going (think of Mr Magoo) and that is also the reason Billy has so many Jeeps he walks out on to his spread cant see any of them so he buys a new old one.

Also Goofy Ridge is just down the road aways from were he lives now and he does frequent the Goofy Ridge Cafe. You should read this article and it will explain why Billy is the way he is! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goofy_Ridge,_Illinois

I have an old Marlin 22 mag bolt action that I have had since the late 80s. Love that rifle. But I shoot my AR way more! It cycles cheap Russin ammo like a champ. Are you specifically looking for a lever action? I am headed to a gun show on Saturday if you want me to look for some inexpensive 22 mag rounds.

I have found the best prices on the net here: http://www.budsgunshop.com/

Just have to find a local dealer that will do the transfer. Easy peasy.

Bill I wish we'd have thought to get my Marlin lever gun out when you were here the other day. It's 22 rimfire one of the older 39A and shoots as good as I can shoot it. I like the older Marlins allot better than what they're coming out with now. The new ones have that stupid cross-bolt safety on them, lawyer proofing the gun is what that's for. The Henry is a good one too but I've never owned one. I like the lever guns. They're reliable and fast to shoot if you need them to be. The older pump 22s are great too. You just need to come back here and do some shootin

Bill, it is hard to go wrong with a Marlin lever action in any chambering. Definitely my preference over Winchester, Henry, Rossi and Puma. There are reports that Remlins, Remington produced Marlins are not the same quality as the originals.
