Yea, two days in a row, Jeep work done. Moved the fuel supply and return to the passenger side. YJ's are both on the drivers side.

Also ran new front brake lines. From the P-valve to the frame blocks.

Ok, here's the story. .

About 5 or 6 years ago, Vicki, her Daughter and I, another couple and their Daughter went to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, The small town we stayed at is 4 or 5 miles from Lake Superior. The average snow fall is 17', we went to snow ski. This trip was in February, with at least 12' of snow on the ground. we stayed in a motel, the temperatures were around -10. After the first day of sking, we all cleaned up to go out to supper. There was a couple of inches of snow in the parking lot which was huge, and only had 8 cars in it.

yours truly thought this was as good as place as any to do a donut. So I did, a perfect 360. Came to a stop at least 40 feet from the road. The Daughter thought it was great. Vicki wasn't so excited, "Why do you always have to do this" her exact words. Bout that time there are flashing lights in front of the truck, whoops. The officer walks up to my truck, ( a crew cab long bed Ford). I roll the window down, and he says, "Don't you think your a little old to be doing donuts" " and your wife agrees, Vic was just shaking her head.

I don't remember what I replied, I was polite. He then says, and he couldn't have been much over 30. " You know you could flip your truck and injure your passengers". Yes officer was my reply. I was like 52 years old. I wanted to tell him, you know what, I have been doing donuts since before you were born. I can handle this. No ticket.

Beautiful country up there in the winter.

I was once in Grand Forks, ND in January for a company meeting. I was in a rental car with another employee who was driving. He started doing donuts and sliding all over the empty parking lot. THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN! How could you flip your car moving so slow? I wish I could do that around here.

Brought the YJ to work today to do a little cleaning and painting.
The second to last picture is the center axle disconnect on YJ's, if you've never seen it before.

Last one for Scotty, Billy G's homemade firehouse pizza, it sucks having pizza with no beer.

I had plans to put the engine back in yesterday, I held off. I knew the oil pan needed to be swapped out due to rust on the old one. Was just going to do it after the engine was in.( its hanging on my engine hoist.) Also wanted to paint the engine. I painted the area not accessible with the engine installed.

After looking at everyone else's engines I cnanged my mind.

The engine is still on the hoist, pan off, trying to decide whether to change the oil pump.

The last 2 days, today being a work day I got a little done.
Yesterday, did some running around. I did pick up a new distributor, and plug wires. And got the oil pan back on, after checking the pump. Also replaced the fiber shaft coupling on the pump drive shaft, with a new shaft and steel one.
Painted some bolts and brackets that are unique to the SBC. (I think).

I think I made the wrong choice on the dizzy. Its a MSD, HEI, street fire. I think I remember reading on JF not to use it. I feel like I can trust the drive gear, but its still only a $135 distributor. The next choice was $279 ready to run MSD that uses a external coil.(from research this is a USA made unit) If you remember this is going to be my new DD, but damned $140 more when I still need a radiator, SYE for the transfer case, windshield glass, and shocks.

I bought the distributor locally, so I can easily return it. It says right on the box, made in china. The Davis United Ignition, and the MSD's both have a one year warrenty.
Any thoughts?

Bill

Hi Bill. Looks like you've been busy. You ready for some winter weather? Looks like it's on it's way.

It probabley will, I guess I was disappointed because of the China part. It does have brass lugs on the cap and rotor.

I like the fact that parts can be bought anywhere.

I did put a Davis UI. HEI in my 304. I can't see any difference between the two, or the stock one for that matter. So I don't know.

I have, I got motivated, then I thought about driving it. It should be fun. A big change from the 258 and 2.73 gears I've been driving for the last 2 years.
I hope I dont tear up the Dana 35 the first week

Calling for 2 to 4", we knew it was only a matter of time. The plow Jeep is ready. I won't power angle, have to do it manually. Still better than sitting on the tractor.

More done today.
Connected fuel and return lines.
Put the TC on to check clearance.
Did the same with the exhaust manifolds.
Fixed the throttle cable linkage, the factory 305 bracket was to far from the carb.

And spent a couple hours with the plow Jeep, pushing snow, for myself and 5 neighbors. Have 3 to 4" on the ground.

Well this morning (Friday) its 9 balmy degrees, and looks like a winterwonderland.

Thanks for that, I feel warmer now.

A fairly unproductive Jeep working weekend. Spent a hour Saturday looking for the PS pump and mount. Found it, and installed. Wow, that's about it.
