Billy G's, YJ to CJ conversion, Trips and General BS

I've been thinking about doing this for a while. My main problem is pictures being to big from the computer. The computer in question is a 1 year old MacBook pro, the iphoto is great, I just can't seem to get the pictures small enough.

I have several projects in the works, the first being a new DD. This is where the YJ comes into play. Its a 1989, came with a 4 cyl. that I sold for $50, beyond repair soft top, no gas tank, 1/2 hard doors with 2 different soft uppers, a funnel, set of ramps, and some new SS parts in a box, ( check the next post for pictures from my Droid. 96,300 miles.

The plan is a 305 Chevy/TH700r4/np241. I know the PO of this setup, milage is 130,000. It does need valve seals, the transmission was rebuilt 3,500 miles ago, and thats where I'm starting with the pictures.

As you can see, under the valve covers is very clean. the spring compression tool came from O'reillys, the hose from a compression gauge I bought a number of years ago.

More pictures in the next post.

Bill

Sorry about the to large pictures.

we all like pictures. And if anyone can help with the size, it would be great. and these are blurry. I used a magnet to remove the keepers from he valve stem. I should also add I put each piston at TDC for each cylinder, then counted the turns when removing the rocker nut, for reassembly

where I'm at now, and this was last worked on 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I had the motor mounts for another project, those plans changed. After completing the valve seals. And I will add its a lot easier with the engine out of the Jeep. the last seals I did, the engine was in the truck. (took about 7 hours) Out of the vehicle took 1.5 hours.

Anyway, mocking up the motor mounts.

Bill, I just save the pics off my camera to the computer and then use something like MS Office Picture Manager to resize them. I usually pick a predefined size like 800x600. Here is one of your pics in 800x600.

Paul, I think i've tried that, the picture goes smaller in the iphoto, then comes up big in the post. I even tried cell phone size, still comes up big. I think I even did 200x300, same result.

Thanks, Bill

When iphoto saves the picture is it resizing the original and saving it in the same location or is it saving it in a different folder / location? If it is saving it in another location would explain why it goes smaller then is back to the same size when you post it.

Btw, that boat looks like it is taking up valuable jeep storage space!

The picture stays in the same location. I lost patience with it. Every time I spend 30 minutes trying, its the same result.
And you're correct about the boat.

The best part of he YJ was the price. $275 with a bill of sale.

It will be getting a CJ fiberglass one piece front clip, that I bought a year ago. Also will be using the dash in the picture, and a CJ hardtop with reworked hinges for a CJ spare tire carrier.
The last picture is the SS parts that came with the YJ.

The next step will be pulling the engine, and welding up the engine mounts.

You're gonna have a never ending thread with as many Jeeps as you have. Hey just about everyone has had picture trouble Bill. You'll figure it all out and then you can go back and resize them later.

Well I did find out if you click the picture it goes smaller. In the test section I went as small as 100x100. same result.

I think the problem is I'm cropping and not resizing.

Bill, I am not a Mac user but I just read an article that alludes to the fact that it is not intuitive to resize in iPhoto. Article says look under File menu for Export. During the export of pics you have selected you can choose a size. My guess is the export will prompt for a file location to save them.
