Bill,

The pics you texted me are way cool. I also love that shot with all the Jeeps lined up on the top of the dune.

Did you tinker with the Q-jet at all?

Matt

What does the sign say? Anybody available to take pics of you climbing a dune?

What sign, the ones close to the lake say "no ORV beyond this point". Others say "one way only" . Pictures of going up the dunes would really show much, you could google for YouTube videos about Silver lake sand dunes.

Daniel, one othe CJ in our group. A '78 5. He broke a U joint due to lack of Maintenance.

Matt, glad you liked them. No, haven't messed with the "Jet". for the dunes I'm running a 670 Holley, I haven't had a running out of fuel issue due to the small bowl on the Jet. I will be putting the Jet back on for all trails except dunes.

It was windy today. This picture also gives the steepness of the dunes at the top. At times the back side can be just as steep. So one must slow way down at the top .

What tires are you running Bill? Are they working well? I wasn't expecting to see a lake. Guess it makes sense though! Pretty place...

Just watched an hour of Silver Lake YT vids. Pretty cool place. Is it crowded all the time, or just special events? Glad you are enjoying your trip. Clay says he wants to go!

Looks like a lot of fun Bill...Shiner Bock is great, did like any of the Family Reunion?

I like quite a few of the other brews but I always go back to Bock for the win.

I think most of the videos are on holiday weekends. On Saturday the parking lot was full. If you drive your vehicle in you get on the dunes. Doesn't seem crowded, 1/2 the people are standing around shooting the breeze. The entire area can be seen in 2 hours driving the Jeep. So it's kind of like repeating the same thing. Hence the standing around and watching other people.

Dave, I had a 12 pack of Bock with me, I haven't tried any from the variety pack. They are in the kitchen fridge though.

I actually drank Rum and diet Pepsi, more than I did beer. In fact, I brought home 3 Shinners.

I had a great time!!! In total I spent 13.5 hours driving round trip, and in 2.5 days, the same amount driving on the dunes.

It's Lake Michigan Scotty. And yes the All Terrain's work great in the sand, I ran 10 lbs. of air in the rear, 11 in the front.

Scott, here's some info on the Great Lakes , Michigan, Superior, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.

That's a lot of water!!!

From this website. http://www.great-lakes.net/lakes/ref/lakefact.html

It must be a optical illusion when standing at the lake. The water at the horizon looks a bunch higher than it is. Even standing 100' above lake level it looks higher.

See what I meen.
