I could have went out and shovled snow today, but that's not any fun. I could also have pushed snow with the snow plow on the Jeep. Unfortunately I took the plow off the Jeep and haven't gotten it on the DD CJ . I also sold the jeep.
I could have prepped the walls in the basement bathroom for paint, (this would be the wife's preferred choice).
So what did I do today, no, I didn't sit around eating Chocolates and watching Dr. Phil, Ellen, or Springer. That would be a waste of time.
So I installed the MSD 6a box in the Q-trac Trail Jeep. Didn't take any pictures until it was time to mount the box. I basically cut some wires, soldered them, and shrink wrapped them. The instructions are clear and straight foward.
I didn't want the box under the hood, there's enough under there already.
Since this Jeep doesn't have a glove box, and I'm to cheap to by one I made one, So I could mount the box. I started with a piece of sheet metal (16g I think ) it was left over from another project.
I already had the wires thru the firewall in a grommet .
I took a couple measurements, marked the steel and cut it out. I then bent it over the work bench at a 90* angle . 5" on the bottom, 5 on the back. The next step was drilling mounting holes and deburing . Time to transfer the bottom holes for mounting, I used the 2 bottom factory holes for the cardboard box. I also added some expanded metal to the sides so there was a little storage room. Here's the box.
Time for a test fit.
One of the hardest parts was holding the 3/4" SS bolts in.
Time to pull it out, add a little paint, and reinstall everything. And, see if it works. I left the stealth HEI and all that wiring in place.
Now the MSD box is protected from the elements, and under hood heat.
