Congrats on picking up your new ride... I know you're excited! For the rear axle move, you basically have the expensive way and the budget way. Expensive way is to link the rear suspension and do either coils, coilovers or 1/4 elliptical springs. Although expensive, it allows you more control and adjustability. The budget way is to use some offset leaf springs like Waggie leafs or XJ leafs. I'm sure there are others out there with offset center pins too.. you'd just have to scrounge the yards. That would gain you a few inches depending on whether you extend the rear frame or not. One big advantage to doing a link suspension over the leaf setup is that you can move the axle back far enough to just have rubber (tires) sticking out. I don't worry about rolling off ledges or climbing ledges because I have only rubber at both ends.. it's awesome. Now... get to work and make sure to post pics along the way. As much attention and controversy as this rig has stirred up on the Forum, we must follow along

Edit:... is that a front D60?

no, its a 44(I think?)

and I was thinking of using the same springs and just moving the mounts. I was thinking about 8-10 in back. Just extending the frame and creating a new front perch

That truck is too big to mod off the six pack method, you need to get an old refridge and drill the keg tap through the side

I think it will be cheaper in the long run

Does the tub have any rust?... it does look like it's in pretty good shape.

First, whats my front axle?(44 right?) And the body isnt all that great. Its banged up on the quarter pannels and the floor is full of fiberglass. the rear is a rivited piece of sheet metal.

the floor and the rear fender wells are already rinolined
I only paid 1500 for the jeep(and a little extra for the tranny and NP205 w/PTO)

Yeah.. looks like a Chevy D44 front axle. What's that in the rear?.. a 14 bolt? If so, they both probably came out of the same truck... GM 3/4 ton.
