Best Way to Sell Stuff

Well guys I have decidedthat 2 Jeeps is just too much. I can't keep 1 running. Plus I was given my grandpas 1972 Chevy Pick up. It needs a motor and lots of work to fully restore it. So something has to go.

What I will be selling. A 1980 CJ7 with 4 cyl and Sr 4 tranny. Motor Rebuilt once, but has significant oil leaks. Runs well with some rust. Hard Top and Hard Doors Very Original

I also Have a 2.5 RE XD lift kit for the Jeep not installed yet. It is missing 2 u bolts and one sleve for inside the rub grommets. With 4 skyjacker shocks (kit was run for about 500 miles until I went to 4.5 RE XD)

I have a front and rear dana 44s from a chevy, not yet built, but there with 3.78 gear

Question is, will I get more for the jeep with lift installed or better off selling them separate? The jeep is on the original suspension.

I can not build the The 44s, so they can go separate or as part of jeep? Should I just sell em separate?

If I lift the tires on it will look real funny, I could buy aset of treadwrights, but hate to spend money I will not get back.

Also I could pull the motor and replace all the leaking gaskets (it is leaking everywhere) Will that be a money maker? How much would you nock off price for a leaky motor?

Sorry lots of qs, but thanks for hte help.

My main jeep needs to have the cam shaft replaced so I need money to that then hopefully enough to get a 350 crate motor for the truck.

Lifts and jeeps go together hand it hand, so around here if it's lifted it's just a perk, unless you've done A LOT of tasteful mods (regear, lockers, etc.) but even then you don't get your money back.

I say sell it all separate.

Unless you have a lot of free time, to replace gaskets, seals, clean parts, etc., and enjoy doing so, sell all the parts separately, as is.

You never get back all the money that your efforts are worth...unless you REALLY ENJOY doing this kind of work. If so, then you can get a little more for the parts, but basically, you throw in the labor, for free.

I'd start by listing everything on craigslist. In one ad, you can list every item, with a price next to the item.

If someone comes to buy an item, they may offer to buy something else that you have, while they're at it.

Ebay is another option, and you may decide to list all the big stuff for local pickup only.

A third option is the classifieds on several jeep forums.

The most important thing is to be honest with buyers, and let them know what's wrong with anything, that you're aware of.

After having numerous Jeeps of various shapes and sizes throughout the years, i would also recommend selling seperate. For the amount of effort you are talking about, I can't see how you would come out ahead (at best break-even after doing a lot of work). Also, agree with posting on craigslist and on local Jeep forums. If you have good local jeep forums (which I am sure you do in CO) I would give those guys/gals first crack as they can appreciate what you have more than they avg. Joe on craigslist. I would suggest listing the Jeep and explainging everthing about it (condition, etc.) and then add I also, have the following that I am overing up for sale. I bet the Jeep sells and the new buyer may want some of the stuff. If not, these same places are the place to move them as well - and are free ads.

The axles will probably go quickly on coloradok5.com.

rarely is the value of the whole jeep greater than the sum of the parts, especially once labor is factored in.

that said- if you have the ability to fix the engine leaks, I would. I think that will give you the best return on your investment, saleability-wise.

look at what most whole jeeps sell for, and do the quick math on buying those parts individually, in addition to the initial purchase price (on second though, don't... it can be a bit depressing)

the other option is to list them all seperate, and offer a discount for buying everything together!
