Best Tranny for a short block 327..
sometime in teh near future I intend to swap out the 304 and toss in a 327 Chevy Short block in the Jeep after its been rebuilt.
I'm wondering what the best transmission for this engine is ....... and I probably want to stay away from automatics ... or do I? I want to keep an eye out for potential prospects / deals that may come around in the mean time.

And why a 327 short block?
327 and 350 (more plentiful) are teh same outward sized engines. More Cubes more power.

c'mon keep it jeep. Buy a 360!
If you go with a 350 then I would probably go with a th350 if you want an auto or you could go with a th400. If you want a manual go for a nv4500 for the deep first gear. There are a bunch of shops that will make you an adapter plate if the bolt holes don't line up.
