Best sounding mufflers for the 304....

Wondering if anyone has any preferences, I want it to sound good but not to loud or expensive. Thanks for any thoughts, Bill

IMO the flowmasters are by far the best built and best sounding muffler available, especially for a V-8. I love them with my 304, stock exhaust manifolds.

I agree, I have them on my '79 and they have a great "throaty" sound that isn't excessively loud.

304 with 4" Cherry Bomb Glasspacks (straight tube). Like em a lot.

Also, go to each manufacturer's website and they usually have a "sound" section that you can listen to. Most don't have older Jeeps, however, it's a start.

Dual flowmaster 40 sound mean as hell. If thats what you are looking for, go for them. But they are to loud for my taste.

i have always known flowmasters to be the best built mufflers around. as for sound, its kinda your preference but they have many sound clips on their website and the hushpower one is quiet and good sounding. From what i have seen the flowmasters are pretty reasonable price wise too. just make sure you run duals no matter what you choose!

I have flowmaster 2 chambers on my 7, kinda of loud at freeway speeds but they sure sound good.

Hooker Aerochambers sound great, but are a little more expensive than the Flowmasters.

Flowmasters all the way.

I'm a die hard Chevy man but I think a Mustang with Flowmasters and turn downs is probably one of the best sounding cars every made.
