best junkyard hei dizzy for 258

I have a completely nuttered 86 CJ-7 with a 258. I suspect that my generic HEI has died (has an intermittent spark problem - which I have replaced every replaceable part and the problem remains), so want to pick up a junkyard replacement to try to isolate/fix the problem.

What vehicles are good to choose a replacement dizzy from? Gear (or just the one off my current dizzy)?

Thanks in advance!

Any '76-80 Chevy/GMC with either the 250cid or 292 cid inline six cylinder. Those are the only engines that have the HEI that's compatible with your 258. The V6 HEI doesn't work with it.

There are pickups, vans, and a few passenger vehicles with these engines.

^^^Gears match?^^^

I'd rather be lost on the trails than found at home!
