bellcrank rod jumps out of place when clutch pushed down help!!!
I have a 1981 cj7, my bell crank rod jumps put of place when I push the lutch down. ANyone know what could be going on and how to fix it?

I had this same problem. Mine was due to poor alignment after body lift installed by PO. First thing is check for level from end to end. If it's not level then you will have to make an adjustment to the mounting bracket bolt holes to make it level. Secondly, check for lateral play. If there is too much a heavy foot (like mine) will place too much leverage and it will jump out. My fix for this was to take the rod off of the end ball joint (the end closest to the pedal link), remove the boot and plastic bushing from the ball joint (there is a small C clip to retain the bushing) and I added several 5/8" washers to take up the space causing the play. I put enough washers so that it had a good bind when I put it all back together (this was a trial and error process). This may not be the recommended fix, but it has worked great for me.
