Axle "Nubber" Question...

OK...the next question of my restoration project is...

How much will I have to drop the rubber nubs (the things that attach to the frame, and hit the axle if it compresses too much), when adding a 2 1/2" suspension lift?

I know that I can jack up one end of the axle to see where things are when the shock fully compresses, but what's the distance that I want to leave before the shock DOES fully compress? Like 1 inch, or so?

Thanks.

Rich

Snubers are a moot point with a lift. Chances are you will never flex the axle that high.

So, the shock won't collapse too far? I hope that's the case, I'll just put the new snubbers in the stock locations, with no drop.

Thanks!

The purpose of the stock snubber is to keep the axle out of the oil pan. It does not matter how much lift you put on it, the relationship between the snubber and the oil pan will stay the same.

Just make sure you get shocks that have enough travel, you don't want them to be the 'snubber', they will blow off fast that way.

I'm installing a 2.5" RE suspension kit, so I bought Rancho RS9000's to fit a CJ with a 2.5" lift.

Hopefully, it'll be OK.

Should be, I also got the ranchos for a 2.5" lift and I stuff the tires big time some days:
