i know this is the wrong spot, but is it common for the dana 44 to be in a 85 CJ7? and what is the other option as far as a rear axle, 35?

best bet would be to start your own thread next time. but to answer your question, no, Dana 44's weren't stock in 85 CJ7's. The AMC 20 axle was. The Dana 35 wasn't until the YJ's. on a side note tho, some late production 86 CJ7's came stock with a Dana 44 because AMC ran out of their AMC 20 axle and had to use Dana 44's. if you're looking at an 85 CJ7 with a Dana 44, find out if it might actually be an 86 or if the axle had been swapped in.
