Some of us have tried to sign up, and have contacted blevisay, but we are required to abandon our current email address for their forum, and setup a brand new email account somewhere else just so we can joining their forum. Why must this be done? I ask again, why must this be required of us!? Why should everyone have to setup a brand new email address just to join one forum, when all other forums I have ever been apart of are perfectly willing and capable to accept the email address I already have? And have had for almost 10 years now?

I applaud blevisay's efforts to help us join, but I suspect that earlyCJ5 is in over their head, and needs someone more technically savvy to handle the forum's setup. I have been a member of dozens of forums, and moderator of quite a few forums of various interests, and I have never seen such strict requirements to join a forum. Something is wrong, and not setup correctly.

I probably sound like I'm trying to bash earlycj5, but trust me, I am not, I would like to join, but I refuse to setup a new email account to do so. Why should I have to do so?

Well, if you were dropped, I expect it was for a reason. The site is strictly non-commercial (unlike some other Jeep forums we are familiar with) and the rules are spelled out quite plainly. It is run by volunteer moderators and supported by donations. No advertising, strictly family content (100% G-rated), no buying and selling in the discussion forum, and no politics. If that's not for you, then look elsewhere.

The moderators are reasonable guys, and would do their best to remedy the situation ... if you conform to the guidelines. Unfortunately, the guidelines thread is not visible without registration. I will ask to have the guidelines made publicly visible. If you want to send me a PM about your problems registering, I will relay it to the mods.

Don't expect a reason, because there is none. I don't want to sell anything, don't want to see porno pictures on a jeep forum etc. I understand that you want to defend them, but please be fair. I have not done anything, did not even had a chance, got the boot in a record time. What about all the other guys? What is the reason for them? What is the "sin" we all have done? I am sure the moderators are very friendly helpful guys, but there is something definately wrong with the way they operate. Maybe there is a reason. They may had a problem with spammers, like everybody else, and overreacted, by locking out or kick out all the new members. Thank you again for your offer of help, I am sure lots of us (almost members) will ask for your assistance.

I posted about your difficulties on the forum, and the owner of the site quickly posted his own email address here and offered to help ... that's characteristic of the attitude there. New members join there all the time, so there must be some way to get past the filters.

Just remember that ECJ5 is a free forum run for members that participate for free and give advice for free. Anything free comes with no guarantee, and implies no obligation. There are no barriers intentionally being raised for you or anyone else that wants to join - I would respectfully suggest that you have a chip on your shoulder about this, and that your and other's problems could be resolved if you use the contact information provided.

I'm still happy to help, but all I can do is forward your PM to the address given above.

First
I dont want anything to come off "wrong", as I am typing this I have a smile on my face and I really want to help you.

I understand that you are frustrated and I have been in the same shoes, however Earlycj5 is not asking you to do anything. You dont have to pay ;you get nothing but free help.
With that said, we operate on a shoe string budget with most cost coming out of my pocket along with members that have generously donated. We recently had to upgrade our hosting plan to over 3x the cost because of traffic (most if not all was due to spammers). I understand there is software available to help with the problem and in time we will purchase it. (hint hint)

I can set you up as I did for cj7dreaming and I am pretty sure that the G mail will work. But you could also open a yahoo mail account and have it forward to your G mail. I understand this is not how you perceive it should work and in a perfect world you are correct. All I can offer is a couple work arounds to get you "on board"

Straight talk from the horses mouth so to say. Straight answer to the problem (budget), more than one offer to a solution and a work around. Better?

There is literally hundreds of years of combined experience with Early Jeeps to be had for free on that forum. Well worth a bit of effort to get to.
Wanna bet that whatever problem you have with your Jeep, someone on there has had the same problem before at sometime.

If you are hinting that you need donations, I honestly don't mind donating to a good forum. And I bet if you did something similar to jeepforum (non-required donations) you would probably get quite a few people who are willing to donate a small amount. I've donated here on jeepforum, and I have donated to other good forums. I know that running websites costs money, and takes up time. I'd much rather donate a small amount to a good forum, than to see it suffer from lack of maintenance and proper setup, and get overrun by ads just to stay open.

The last time I spoke with someone at earlycj5 about signing up, I was told "Gmail won't work no matter what."

That said, I will send you another email.
