Any earlycj5 forum members here?

I'm in the process of buying a 70 cj5, and thought I would join the "earlycj5" forum to ask some questions. I was denied membership, and have no way of asking why. Just wondering if there are any members here that could maybe point out the obvious to me.

Thanks,

I've been one for years. Don't know why you were denied?

Did you use an email address with Yahoo or AOL or something like that?

I submitted with a hotmail account, then switched to our home email account.

Does anyone have an email address they could forward to me to ask why?

thanks again.

You can't use a hotmail account due to high volumee of spam.
Otherwise you should be OK (mine is on my MSN email).

Me too. But since I sold my '66 I haven't been back, so it's been awhile.

I joined because I heard people were having issues and needed. Sponcer. But that was not the case. I used either a gmail or an optonline email.

On the ecj5 web page; I don't think you can see this if you aren't registered; they had some othe issues last week; maybe it's fixed by now.

"Due to the heavy usage of Gmail by spammers we will no longer be allowing the use of Gmail e-mail accounts.

As an example, we had approximately 100 user registrations today. 98 of those used Gmail and the other two were valid users.

Please login and update your email address to a non-Gmail account if you wish to continue posting.

We apologize, but we can no longer continue screening this volume of spam related user registrations.

Thanks,

The staff here at EarlyCJ5.com "

So if yo signed up with a Gmail, you cannot keep it? Hmm. I think that is what I used. I'll have to go and look.

Seems to be more than a glitch.

Eight months after the opening post on this forum, I ran into the same rejection even though I use a valid email account connected to a real website. I figure, why bother screwing around with amateurs? There are serious Jeep forums.

That's uncalled for. ECJ5 has had SERIOUS issues with hackers/spammers, so it's understandable that the mods are serious about security.
"Amateurs" is technically correct, however, as nobody's getting paid-but it's the best place for early Jeep enthusiasts!

There has to be a work-around for valid people who happen to use Gmail, and there are a LOT of people using Gmail. It's a cop-out just to have a blanket exclusion. I participate in a local BBS board that dealt with the same issues.
