Any advantage/problems with changing to D-44 Steering Knuckles?

Forgive the noob-ish question, but after disassembling my Chevy D-44 and Jeep NT, Drum brake equipped D-30, I noticed that some stuff fits berween the two. I am doing the Chevy Disk Brake conversion to the D-30. My question is if there are any advantages/disadvantages to putting the D-44 knuckles on my D-30? Anyone do this? How did you set your steering up? Am I wasting my time? Here are some pics:
