amc20 one piece axle turns axle to open diff?

in superior axles one piece axle instructions it states they are not compatible with the traclok rear end and removal of the thrust block is required. does this mean it turns a traclok (limited slip) into an open diff after installation? also, if i have already removed a hub on a two piece axle can i just put it back on the shaft and tighten the axle nut?

thanks for your help guys,

jd

No...open carrier and Trac-Loc are two different pieces of hardware...you have one or the other and removing the thrust block doesn't turn a Trac-Loc into an open carrier.

Are your sure that the instructions state trac-lok? The instructions that I have seen refer to the PowerLock differential as the one requiring different axles.

Not to hijack, but what is a thrust block? In searches I have read it needs to be removed for one piece axles. Is it in all AMC20s or only in the Trac-loks? What does it do and where is it located in the dif? I tried to Google it, but it didn't answer my questions. The answer might help others with once piece axle questions.

The thrust block is a small metal shaft that is between the two axle shafts. It resides in the carrier and goes through the 2 side spider gears between the 2 axle shafts. The carrier crosspin goes through it. I don't recall what the purpose was, but it's been answered on here several times. I removed mine when I installed my locker and Moser shafts.

I am a few days away from purchasing the 1 Piece Superior Axles... am I correct in understanding that they will NOT work in my AMC 20 LSD??

Will Yukon's work??

Yes, its the Power-lock brand, which is an aftermarket unit. You can see it mentioned on the front page of the Moser instructions in the second picture of my Classified thread here:
