AMC TH-400 Transmission

Wanting to know where to find a total rebuild kit for the AMC TH-400 Transmission. I have heard they are the same internally as the GM TH-400.

It is EXACTLY the same transmission as the THM-400.
(Turbo Hydro Matic model 400)

They are simply cast with an AMC bolt pattern on the front housing,
And they have a Dana transfer case compatible (usually 10 spline) Output Shaft.
That is the ONLY difference between the AMC And GM versions of the THM-400 transmissions.

You can get rebuild 'Kits' from most places, like NAPA to the discount places..
BUT!
Don't expect them to get you 'Hard' parts if they are bad, and don't expect them to get the 'Widgets' you might need...
Little stuff, like case vents, single bushings/bearings, ect.

Transtar bought out Axiom Transmission, so the selection isn't as good as it used to be, but that's where I buy most of my transmission parts, and they carry EVERYTHING you will need for most rebuilds.
