AMC 304 vs 360 vs 401 - Differences?

So as I understand it all three of these engines are based on the same block and share many parts (i.e. alt, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, PS, etc.).

So what makes them different? Bore and stroke? Heads? Could you bore and stroke a 304, put bigger heads on it and turn it into a 401?

All Gen 3 engines are the same basic design and external dimensions but different CASTINGS with different internal dimensions and wall thickness as well as different cranks and rods (390+401 were forged)
This link will tell you all the basics.............OCG
