AMC 304 Exhaust Manifold Questions

I reciently picked up a used set of factory exhaust manifolds for my 79 CJ5 with the AMC 304. The studs were frozen and all four broke off when i tried to remove them. I was able to re tap all of the holes. my first question is should i weld a nut onto the new studs so they fit against the flange of the maniflod (weld nut near the non threaded portion of the stud)? The old studs had a nut in the middle of the stud. Second question is should i paint them or leave them alone? the first picture is similar to the old ones and the second picture is the new ones I bought.

I just used ARP stainless steel manifold bolts on my 360.

They work and look great.

Put anti-seize on all threads.

Beat it to fit, paint it to match!

Wheel, Wrench, Repeat.
