AMC 20 end play

ok, lets see if the youtube link works now...

I'm guessing the end play on this 2-piece is a little out of spec along with shot seals.
Now searching the forum for repair steps.

One piece? Thanks for the correct information!
How do you tell? I saw an old thread that said if one side has a big nut on it, then it's a two-piece.
Are bearings and seals specific to the manufacturer, or are the all the same fit? How do I ident who made it?
Thanks!!

The "big nut" would be right in the center of the lug nuts....in the pic below the nut is removed but it threads onto the end of the axle shaft.

2 pc on the left, 1 pc on the right.

And yes, the bearings and seals can be specific, even for the same manufactures, depending on how old the axles are.
Best to find out who made them, and give them a call to be certain.

There shouldn't be any slop in them. If you pull them apart, the bearings will probably come tumbling out. Hopefully there isn't any damage done already.

Yep LG, it's in the garage until it gets fixed.
Any tips on how to determine where it came from?
Jeepwhore, the axle on the passenger side looks like the one on the left in your picture. The drivers side looks like the one on the right.

Might be some maker/sellers ID somewhere on the axle.
Worst case, you junk'em both and buy some Mosers.
What's under that center black disc on the hub?

LG, I don't know. I'll have to look this weekend. I'm crazy busy till then, so it sits in the garage. If I end up needing to replace, those Moser sets aren't too terribly expensive.

LG, I pulled the one-piece axle and the only thing I could find to ID it is the little disc on the outside, and there isn't much left on it...

The disc with the purple looks like Yukon Gear emblem.
