AMC 20 or Dana 44?

How do I tell which rear end I am running in my 79 cj5? is there a visual indicator on the housing?

any help is appreciated.

AMC 20 looks like a WWI British helmet. D44 is not round and has a indent on the cover for the gears, take a picture and post it if you still aren't sure.

This is the AMC 20. It came stock onyour CJ


This is the Dana 44. It was NOT stock, someone swapped it in later.
