AMC 20 and Dana 30 differental cover installation

Do I need to buy the gaskets to put my differental covers back on or can I just use RTV . The guy at the parts store said I don't need them just to use RTV or silicone . I am putting my AMC 20 and Dana front axle diff covers back on .

Thanks again,

Chad...

yeah just use rtv. it only takes a little bit,you dont want it to squeeze into the inside when you tighten the bolts down.

I vote for Ultra Black. Clean it up with brake clean and make sure it is dry. Apply a small bead all the way around the cover, finger tight the bolts or torque to ~4 ft pounds. Wait 24 hours and torque to final spec around 22 ft pounds then fill it with oil. It will not leak!

As stated above, don't over do it with the rtv.
