Amc 20

Hey all,

A friend of mine just told me that all AMC 20 pumkins are located to the far right side of the axle. I was under the impression that their were 20's made with the pumpkin dead center. I don't know much about this axle, but we were talking about a jeep I am concidering buying as a project that has an AMC20 in the rear. He said that all AMC20 pumkins are off to one side and that in order to swap to a better axle with a pumkin dead centered in the middle of the axle, you would have to change out the t-case or buy an adapter.

Any light you can shine on this is appreciated.

Yup, the AMC20 is in the center on mine. I have a D20 tc and a 3 speed T150. I think your friend has been a round a bunch of quadra auto's....

Very true, I have a Dana 300 TC and a TF999 Auto and my rear is centered too. Sounds like only the Quad Autos are offset.

Only the Quadra trac system had a passenger side rear diff. and were narrow trac axles. Later Manual and auto both had center diffs.
