AM / FM Stereo radio conversation to AM /FM / CB radio / wiring questions

Ok, I have looked closer and the only plug that is different (other than the CB antenna and Mike cord appears to be the power cord.

I have reviewed the wiring diagram for the 1984 CJ-7 and the only radios on the diagram are the AM / FM, and the AM / FM / Cassette radios.

Was the CB radio offered in 84?

The power cord for the AM / FM / CB has three wires, Brown with a fuse, orange, and black. The plug that plugs into the power wires only has two wires out, the orange and brown. I’m thinking the brown is power as it has a fuse and the orange might be dash lights.

The radio I have is complete with the matching transformer for the AM / FM / CB antennas, and also the mike.

So to install I need to know;

1) The power wires (orange dash lights, brown to power????)

2) Original location of the mike jack on the dash.

Pictures of the radio in the dash with the mike jack location would be great.

Wiring diagram for the AM / FM / CB wiring would be great.

Advice would be great

Do you have an AM / FM / CB radio in your CJ?

Can you post a picture of the dash showing the mike and where it plugs in?

The photos below are of the CB/Radio and shows where the mike attached to the dash on the Jeep Jamboree model from the factory. Both pictures are from my 1984 Accessory Catalog.

PM me and I can send you a PDF file from the 1978 FSM that has instructions on the CB Radio control functions.

Below are posted pictures of the mike connection out of the radio. The cable from the radio appears to be a panel mount. Does anyone know where the factory put the JACK for the mike in the CJ (stock location)

For anyone following this I did get a PM that pointed me to the following link.

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/am...wiring-581998/

I am following up on it as it does not quite fit the wiring I have.

Still looking for pictures of the original mike JACK location.

If it were me, and no one posted a picture of the mike jack location, I would find another Cig Lighter OEM bracket and add a snap in plug that could be drilled to accept the mike jack. You could mount it just below the radio as there are two threaded factory holes that will match the bracket holes.
I used one for my aux jack for an iPhone, iPod, MP3 player pictured below.

This is what I did to mine. Haven't gotten around to installing it yet, but it works. IIRC I had to wallow out the cig lighter bracket a bit to get a grommet that would fit the mic plug, but I did get it to fit.
