Aluminum body tub, cj7

Hey everyone, I've done some searching on the subject but I noticed most of the time the "aluminum tub" comes up is when someone is asking if a fiberglass body is any good.

My CJ7 isn't in the need of a tub just yet, but I like to research stuff anyways. I'm just looking for past experience from those who have installed one, run one daily, and/or run one on the trails.

I know it's a matter of opinion when it comes to alum vs steel vs glass, I'm not really looking for a debate.. just some experience with the aluminum.

Pros vs cons? Cost? Retailers?

Thanks folks! I appreciate it.

Can't help you much with the quality, fit, finish etc. but I am planning on buying an aluminum tub in the next year. Just so happens that Aqualu Industries
http://www.aqualu.com is about 10 minutes down the road from me.
Price was about $3500.00 last time I checked. Just checked again, and the body for a CJ 7 is now $3664.00.
I've also heard that you have to use some kind of isolator between any steel and aluminum to avoid dis-similar metal problems.

Makes sense now that you say it, didn't even think of that. I guess over time the aluminum/steel would oxidize.

Looks like they keep the retail price basically the same because quadratec is selling their tub for basically the same amount of money, only like $30 difference.

Nice that you are close by though, you'll save a lot on shipping.

Hey did you look at the gallery on their website? Looks like they leave pieces or even the entire tub with just the raw aluminum and it looks pretty damn neat.
