To all the 258 guys
Well, the long short of it is, im putting a 258 crank in my 4.0. this is not the issue however. while sourcing parts i came across lifters for the 4.2L but could not find them for the 4.0L. my question is, since the critical dimensions of the blocks are identical (except the bore) then the 258 lifters should fit correctly in the 242. am i correct?
NAPA shows the same part number for both a 86 258 and a 94 4.0 engine. Check with your local machine shop, they should have the dimensions.
1986 CJ7, 4.2 w/4.0 head, TFI-HEI hybrid ignition, Clifford manifold w/Holley 390 w/cold air intake, OBA, 4.5" lift, Woody CV shaft and Tattons in front, 4.10 gears - lunchbox in front, Truetrac in the back, twin-sticked, blower upgrade for running topless, trying to keep it simple.
It's just a Jeep, and if you don't wheel it once in a while, it's not even that.
