OK, anyone with an 86, post the last 6 digits of your VIN and whether you have or don't have the Dana 44.
Seems to be a big debate around here whether the first 1/2 of production, first 1/3 comes with a Dana44. Let's see if we can narrow it down to "before such and such VIN has an AMC20, after has Dana 44.".
I'll edit this post so people don't have to keep scrolling down through all the posts coming (hopefully).

I only stole the rear, not the whole jeep. What kind of scumbag do you take me for!
Seriously, when I bought a used 86 frame and axles for $500, i almost choked when I saw it had the d44. I will say that I'm a huge fan of NT axles, and will never disparage the 20. If that's what you've got, toughen it up. Trussed/1 pc axles and welded you're Golden. I would never go out of my way to track one down, or swap out nt's for WT, JUST for the 44. I've had my 20 airborn, drag raced it etc..w/no problems. I just wanted to be like the kool kids and do up the WT 44.
Now if I can borrow a paint booth to lay down some Loden Green Metallic (w/a little extra metal flake).
I forget who had that sweet Green Golden Eagle that helped me decide to keep it the original color. Thanx guys!
