Adhesive for weatherstippring or not?

I purchased a complete weatherstripping kit for my 84CJ7. The weatherstripping for the rear hatch and the doors has plastic clips that hold it to the door frames. Should I use adhesive in addition to the clips?

When I took the weather stripping off there were some places that had adhesive and some places that didn't so my assumption is the PO glued some loose places but I can't prove that. Any advice is appreciated!

agree with LG...i had some weatherstripping coming off, and pulling it back a bit revealed the stripping has torn around the clips, making them useless. i just glued it back on with the above mentioned adhesive and so far all is well
