Adding shoulder belt-Who sells a bung for 2 1/4 pipe?

I'm going to add shoulder belts to the CJ5. I'll need to drill a hole and insert a bung, but the only ones I've found from Poison Spider and Summit Machine are for 2" or less O.D. Pipe, and mine's 2 1/4. Anyone know a good source for these?

I know I can probably just drill a hole through the rollbar and insert a grade 8 bolt/nut to secure the strap mount, but is this really the safest option? I like the idea of a welded bung and threading the bolt into that (at least in theory it sounds more structurally sound. Am I over thinking this?

Go down to the local hardware store and get some 1/2" black iron pipe. I picked up a couple of 6" nipples. I drilled my hole in the roll bar tube, then welded in the pipe. I then cut the pipe off with a grinder just above the welds. Cleaned them up, chased them with a 1/2" bit and they work perfectly. Cost about $3 total.

Thanks '82! This is a great idea. Dumb question-what is a 6" nipple?

Nipples are short pieces of pipe used for plumbing, gas lines, etc. You can pick them up at any hardware store. They come in many different diameters and lengths. You will want to get one about for gas line because it is black pipe and easily weldable.

Ahh! Thanks Roadhog. Hope the helpful hardware woman doesn't mind if I ask to see them.
