Thanks! I have no idea what MPG I get with my set-up but I am sure it's bad - never even tried to figure it out... good thing I knew that going in to this!

That is a super nice looking Orange! Love the finish on the engine too and yeah, I understand the "wanting a 304" thing as well. I passed up sixes and SBCs before I finally found the 76 (304 Quadratrac) that eventually got adopted by my wife. Love the Rubi too! My brother has, I think, an 08 in the same color scheme. I like his a lot but when he starts rattling off how much he has invested in it I think I'm glad I've been sticking to the CJs.

Adam,

Is that a 4" lift with 33's? Whatever it is, it looks perfect.

I love the old style roll bar, people always ask me if it is something that I built.

Finally sourced all the parts I need for the YJ spring conversion for the front. Excited to see and feel the ride and steering quality after the swap.

Currently it has a total of 4" of lift including the shackles. Don't flame, the shackles and springs came with it when I got it.

I will be running true 4" BDS springs up front with heavy duty stock size shackles. For now I will leave the rear set-up as-is and see how things work.

As far at the roll bar, yea I dig it! It's hard to find guys still running the stock one. As you can tell, I also have short back seats... since this is just a toy for me that will rarely go off-road, I wanted to keep some of the original old-school look to it.

Pics to come this weekend of the spring swap.

Finished up the YJ spring swap on the front. Fairly straight forward just time consuming. However, as I was afraid, the used lift that I had on it was sagging more than I thought. The combination of the new 4" springs on the front and the used 2.5" springs and 1.5" shackles on the rear gives me "junk in the trunk". I will go ahead and buy new rear 4" springs to level things out. Hope to pick them up this week.

Here are some pics. I would have gotten a better side shot to show the sagging in the back but it's too dern cold outside and I had my garage nice and toasty.

First pic is before I started. 2nd is of the new springs. 3rd shows half-way and 4th is how it sits now.

They needed to be that way to adjust the caster angle with the old springs and shackles. Once I get the rear done, I will re-measure the caster on the front and adjust if needed.

The rock sliders were made by Big Daddy Offroad, as was the front bumper and rear bumper. This company originated out of a local 4x4 Jeep shop here in Charlotte and produced outstanding products. I used their stuff on every TJ I owned. My LJ has their rear swingout on it.

Unfortunately, the company changed hands, moved to the Greensboro area and as far as I know, it is now closed down. I do know some on-line companies still have some of their products due to large inventories but you may be hard pressed to find them.

Finished up the lift for the back and ran into an interesting issue....

Gotta get a new rear driveshaft. I didn't realize how much the old lift was sagging and even with that going on, the stock shaft was extended to full extent. With the new lift, with the stock shaft fully extended it is still almost 2" from the yoke. Time to measure and order something.
