85 CJ7 T5 Shifter

Hi, this is my first post. My trans shifter works OK but it is very loose. Where can I get the nylon(plastic?) sleeve that is on the base of it? After owning this for 19 years, I finally put an HEI dist in and am now installing a 2100 carb. It still has the original paint and I have the original rag top.

You can find them on ebay sometimes being called an isolator and clip.
That is where I found mine.

You can find them in a U-pull-it type junk yard. They are also used in 87 YJ transfercase shifters and other shifters too. It is usually easier to get another shifter for a T-5 or T-4 transmission (be carefull, they are not all exactly the same, some of them are bent at different angles just above the shifter plate).

I had the same issue, and couldn't find a repalcemnt clip anywhere...without getting too in depth, I skipped the whole isolator clip, and tacked on two nuts/set screws, which firmed it right up- let me know if you want more info or a how to

see if this guy has anymore of them. I've got a B&M shifter and it's really not that much better than the stock shifter was after I replaced the isolater and clip.

T-5 Shifter clip

Many thanks to everyone that replied. I haven't found one yet. I talked to an old mechanic that has an 86 with the T-5 and he just drove a piece of pvc tubing down the shifter. He said it worked. Any comments are welcome.

T-5 Shifter clip and isolater

Thanks to all that replied. I got one from a Dodge dealer in a town 30 miles away. It was cheaper than from eBay.
