84 CJ7 TBI problem

My grandson has an 84 CJ7. Newer engine (early 90's, I believe) 4.0/258. He and my son installed a Howell TBI kit a couple of years back. Ran fine till recently. One of his stupid kid tricks was to get tagged for a DUI. He had to have an ignition interlock installed for 6 months. Everything was ok for the first week or so, then he couldn't get it running. It would start, but then die out. He contacted the garage that installed the device. Of course, they claimed it couldn't possibly be the interlock causing the problem. He didn't want to confront them about it, so he just waited it out. Once his time was up, he had the CJ towed to the shop to have the interlock removed. Still had the problem though. He managed to nurse it home, but still can't keep it running. My son came up for the weekend to try to sort it out, but didn't have much success. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with the TBI setup to be much help. Apparently the voltage is cutting out right after the engine starts. I'm not sure if it's the voltage to the pump, or to or from a sensor. We would be grateful for any suggestions to get us pointed in the right direction.

Sounds more like an ignition problem than a tbi problem. Is it possible that the key was left in the "on" position after the jeep was shut off? This would damage the ignition module if left for more than a few minutes.

Congratulations. Dumbest damn post ever! As if drunk driving is so innocent and a growing phase. What an idiot!
