84 CJ7 Tail Light Wire Colors & Functions?

Hi all,

Trying to replace my tail lights and the new wires are black, red and white. The original wires are White, White w/TR and Green, can anyone tell me how they map to each other? Thanks!

white markers jumpered between the lights, green w/trace is left turn/stop, light green is right turn/stop.

You need to check your lights they should have came with wirring set up and compare it to that.

one of the wires off the new lights is more then likely ground. Just ground it to the body or carry it forward for a dedicated ground.

if i remember it correctly as the harness goes through the tub on teh drivers rear it junctions up there and then jumpers over to the passenger side

White is the tail lights, white w/tr is reverse lights, Lt Green is right turn/hazard and Lt Green w/tr is left turn/hazard.

As far as what hooks to the black, red and white, I would hope it would have come with instructions. If not, install the bulbs, provide a ground to the housing and power the wires individually to figure what wire controls which bulb filament. Reverse should be easy to figure out. The other two, one will be dim for the running lights and the other will be brighter for the turn/stop/hazard.
