84 CJ7 Stock Differential Gear Ratios - HELP

I'm trying to figure out what the stock differential grear ratios are on my CJ7. The dealer can't help as the computers don't contain the information I'm looking for. I got rid of the stock tires and replaced them with 31 inch tires. Now I have no power in 5th gear. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Search web for code locations on front axle. I did and located the number (stamped in tube on Drivers side of front differential, have to scrape the paint and rust off, but it's there. Actually went to the Spicer website and decoded it. Found out I had 2:72's (Yuk). Could also simply count rotations of tire vs driveshaft and calculate from there.

Thanks for the advice. I'm heading down to the garage now to see what I can't find out.

Jack it up and count the tire rotations vs drive shaft rotations. The tag tells you nothing, you have no idea what upgrades have been performed in the last 20+ years.

My 1984 (widetrack) CJ7 5sp rear had a B stamped on the pass side of the center section when looking at it from the rear. This means 3:31 per the above website.

I have 31" tires and my 5th gear is fine. But keep in mind I have a fresh 4.2, 30 over with a HO 4.0 head and custom fuel injection.
