Has anyone replaced the OEM rollover check valves and rubber gromets on their poly tank? My original has some type of sealer around the rubber gromets, any good ideas of what to use when installing the new ones for a fuel proof adhesive/sealer?
You shouldn't need a sealer if using new gromets and your surfaces on the tank and valves are clean and not damaged.
My tank had RTV used to seal the gromets. RTV turns to goo when exposed to gas. I cleaned everything up and installed new grommets (at $18 a piece from Chrysler) and eliminated the gas leak.
Thanks for the info, mine has some brown rubbery type glue around the rubber gromet and the poly tank. It appears to have held up well over the years, no leaks, but I have all new parts and while I have it down want to do it right!
I just finally replaced the grommet and valve on drivers side with the factory parts, they work much better than help pcv grommets..... finally my gas stays IN the tank!!!
Mine also had the brown pliable rubbery adhesive around the gromets, I have no idea what type of adhesive it is, but it held up to gas just fine.
