82 cj7 build "eugene"

bought this jeep in may of 09 with a ton of rust and a knocking amc360 , rebuilt T18a , and d300. leaking radiator and power steering gear box. stock axles and generic 33"

i had motor rebuilt, replaced power steering gear box, got a yellow top optima, aluminum radiator, rugged ridge steering box frame reinforced mount, bought full width axles for it, h1's on 36" wranglers. headman headers, flowmaster 44's. twin sticks, put my own choke cable and made tranny cover.

Dig the snow pics... something about the bright colors that really stand out in the snow... I like my Orange one in the snow!

how much did you shorten up that 14 bolt? It looks about perfect width in the snow pics

The 14 bolt isn't under there yet. I don't plan on shortening it either. I
Measured it out and it should only be a couple inches wider than the picture when I instal it along with h1 rims and tires.
As in the picture that is wide track axles with 15 x 10 rims with only 2.5 backspacing.

Recently all I've done is paint windshield frame, installed radio hidden inside center console, and worked on free hard top given to me. I've also installed windshield washer kit.

Im digging your build. I am going to be doing probably same exact thing you're doing before too long. My uncle has ford axles for me. My 360 runs good for now(been rebuilt before) but ill be rebuilding it again. Tranny/Transfer getting rebuilt in couple weeks. I'ma wirewheel underneath my tub and spray it. Inspect for any rust that needs patching, but ive looked when i bought it. I looked underneath 2 or 3 other times. Just looks like it needs painted and get rid of lil surface rust thats coming through paint from PO.

What bedliner did you use? looks good....

Using ford axles? What tcase you gonna run then? To tackle that rust I wire wheeled my underside and used filler primer first. Then followed with por 15 and finished that with herculiner roll on. I've used that dupli color brand before that is half the price and it's terrible. I would never use it again and I have a whole gallon never used and i won't use it. Ive worked on my buddy's jeep more than mine lately. Also I drive mine every day. I have a car but it has been down for awhile. My jeep I've had it over 100mph and it cruises straight at 75mph all day long.

okay update time, i installed a dual diaphragm brake setup from a yj and used an adjustable push rod. works great
installed some speakers and put the radio inside center console. fixed gas gauge with new sending unit and bought a brand new gauge and calibrated unit to the gauge. i installed the gauge inside the original housing of that pos clock that never works. was given a free hard top with doors and had to drill out all bolts on doors so i could adjust them to fit. hard top had a sun roof that leaked really bad so i patched it with some aluminum sheet metal i had laying around.

yea, it was to much for me to drive home and that picture is after a hardcore rain storm that started just after they pulled me out and then they cancelled the rest of the show. my plans were to drive home afterwards. it took 2 weeks of cleaning everyday just to clean out the inside. i keep the hard top on now for all mud bogs. cleaning the outisde doesn't take near as long.
