81 CJ7 won't shift into any gear

Hey guys back again with another problem. My jeep was driving fine until I noticed that I was having trouble getting it into second gear. It felt like there wasn't even a gear there to put it into. Then later after coming to a stop and putting it into natural I couldn't get it into any of the gears. Same feeling but on all gears.
I have the 4 speed but not sure which specific one.

Any ideas?

Does it grind or just nothing at all?

It almost feels like its not lining up with the gates right.
Sorry if my terminology is wrong here.

What do you guys thing about me removing the floor plate and unbolting that uppermost section of the transmission. Right where the stick goes into it.

Ya, I'd look at the shifter closely. Really need some pics of the transmission to get an idea what model you're dealing with.

Well if stock it could be a T-4 SR-$ or a T-176

Just a picture of the shifters and floor plate is all that is needed to identify the tranny,

I bet it's a 4 speed t-176 that has slipped out of it's gate and needs to be put back into the proper sequence.
