80 CJ Tub on an 85 CJ Frame?

I have an 85 CJ 7 that I am in the process of restoring. In an effort to save $$ for a new tub I am looking to buy a used tub. I found one online for $200 that appears to be in good shape (at least a lot better than mine). It would only need some minor body work.

Question : Would a 1980 CJ 7 tub be easily compatible with my 1985 CJ 7?

Yes. Should be 100% compatible.

same thing. the frames would have slight differences but as far as tubs go it's the same.

you can also do a YJ tub if you don't mind having a side opening tailgate or doing the work to convert it. you also have to move some body mounts but it's not hard and the YJ tubs are galvanized where as the CJ's are not

So..... you are the guy that beat me to that tub by 24hrs. You will be happy to know the seller has integrity because he would not sell it to me. Said he needed to hear back from you first. Me.... waiting patiently for you to decide.

I think you should go with a YJ tub.
