Use matching 82 to 86 factory wide track axles as a direct bolt in replacement.

I have a 1980 CJ7 and I would agree with scottahicks and "only in a jeep cj" I feel that the narrow trac axles lend problems to larger tires. I have kept my axles and diff. because I don't have any problems with them, I just replace the bearings, seals, and races all the way around plus I have 4.10 gears. So I bought new Mickey Thompson wheels with a 3.25" backspacing so I would have good clearance with 32" tires. It made it wider and I think they look good and with the wheels fully poining in eather direction I have about an inch or two clearance between the back of the tire and the spring and frame.

Just my opinion and some experience.

Frame painted with a Rough Country 2.5" lift and shocks installed.
Alot of money spent on parts that are all over including a new 258.
