79 CJ7 Exhaust?

Replace manifold with headers and glass packs or just put glass packs on?
1979 CJ7 304 V8, 3 Speed... I've heard the manifold bolts break off pretty easy..

Well headers are prone to leaking and really only help out on the high end. The practical solution would be to keep stock manifolds.

Also you didn't mention if the transmission was auto or manual. If it's auto you would have to run fenderwell headers (if you decide to go that route) because if memory serves the transmission linkage could cause issues with in frame headers. Not impossible to get around but a big PITA.

x2. If my '79 didn't already have fenderwell headers, I'd stick with the stock manifolds. I don't think you'd see a significant increase in torque or HP within the power range of the 304. I do like the looks of a side exhaust, though
