Question 79 CJ7 E brake Problem

Hello everyone. I have a slight problem with my 79 CJ7 I bought used. It seems that all the hardware for the emergency brakes is missing inside the rear brakes. I have managed to scrounge up all of the hardware to replace it but now I have realized the true problem. I think the lift rendered the parking brake useless because of the cable length. Is there any place where I can order longer cables or something I can do to add a parking brake? Has this happened to anyone else?

This is a common problem with lifted vehicles, and there are many companies which sell longer brake lines cables, etc. Some of the better parts stores will make custom braided hoses and swage custom cables for you.

Most NAPA auto stores can help you with this problem . I personally will be installing a line lock on rears . I just cant trust the foot pedal alone on these hills .

Good Luck ,

Yeah NAPA is good for that. Their prices really suck but they are a huge resource for the stuff you can't seem to find elsewhere.

Also, I THINK JC Whitney sells extended brake cables for lifted vehicles, and I have seen ads in Jp for companies that do custom stuff too.
