'78 CJ5 vs Tree (Jeep Lost This 1)

OK, guys... where can I find the best engine mounts available for a 304 in a '78 CJ-5? AND... what is involved in replacing them? Will a floor jack do?

Well, I just used one under the oil pan of my 258. I put a 2x4 under the pan to spread the weight over the jack to keep it from denting in the bottom of the pan. I lifted it enough to take the weight of the engine off the mounts, removed the nuts/bolts, then lifted the engine higher to clear the mounts. Took old out, put old in, put fasteners in to hold them in place, lowered jack until all was aligned, snugged fasteners, lowered jack rest of the way. Tightened fasteners. Removed jack and 2x4. Now I won't have to keep replacing my oil filters from them getting punctures from the bad mount..

Nedmoore -> the best way to start your jeep without a key is to run a jumper wire between the red and black post on the battery and spin the fan behind the radiator at the same time. Good luck.

IMO, MORE makes the best engine mounts. They replace everything from the frame to the block.

Thanks!

OK, thanks for the input guys! Looks like I'll go with the floor jack & MORE mounts... they ARE kinda pricey, aren't they!

Umm, No they don't !
"Factory block plates must be retained on a 4.2L and acquired for a 4.0L"
"72-75 CJ-5 requires slight drilling to install."
More makes killer products, But these are over kill.
I'd opt for the daystar/prothane poly engine and trans. mounts.
At less than $100, It's a great upgrade, + your upgrading the trans mount.
Also it leaves you with a $100 bucks to do another mod.

The OP said he had a 304....So, yes, they do replace it all. I wasn't discussing other engines, I don't typically respond, unless I have actually used the product; I have MORE mounts in my Scrambler with an AMC 360.

Yup, My mistake.
I read it correctly, But was thinking 258.
I'd still opt for the daystar/prothane poly mounts.
