77 cj5 spring advise?

I have my 77 cj5, it is sitting flat on the front springs. What is my best option?
Should I put a set of used ones on it? or am I looking for trouble doing so?

Should I just bite the bullet and get a new set???? I dont want a lift just stock.
thx Steve

My visualization of your description of flat is little or no camber or bend in your leaf packs. Most stock spring packs do not have much camber in them to my knowledge. If you feel safe riding in it and it does not lean or sag to any favorable side, weather it is parked or in motion, I am not sure I would do anything at all. Installing used springs can be a "Roll-Of-The-Dice" gamble, replacing used by you, with ABused by another. I have a 4" lift on my 5 that would beat your teeth out before I removed one leaf from each pack. Not all springs behave the same as far as ride quality and handling characteristics, so if you choose to replace them do your home work before you spend any amount of money. Lessons from other's mistakes can keep the awful simple from becoming simply awful. Good luck with what ever you decide should be done.

It rides 1/2 inch from the bump stops. If I hit even a small bump it bottoms out and feels solid.
What if I put longer spring hangers up front to raise it up some? Will that work?

How about an add a leaf to buy some time? I had to do it in my last jeep with v8 winch, big bumper, dual batteries. one small leaf can make a big difference

I would get a new set of springs. Superlift used to make a 1" lift set. Don't know if they still do and don't know how they ride. Longer shackles is not the way to go. You end up changing U joint angles and caster.
