74/75 Decals on a 78 CJ5

I am planning to add Renegade decals to my 1978 CJ5. I replaced the tub a few years back and ended up with a tub with earlier model details (i.e. tailgate, little divot on rear quarter panel) and I changed the color from factory so I am no longer really worried about making it factory/year correct. I'm not trying to pass it off as an original renegade or anything like that. I just like the look. I specifically like the 72-73 decals and the 74-75 decals. I know that the length of the front end changed in what 72? And there were windshield changes in 75. Does anyone see any potential problems with putting the 72/73 or 74/75 decals on a 78? (logistical problems, not spiritual "staying true to the jeep" problems).

Here she is.

They should fit just fine. The only problem I can see is that if you use the center stripe down the hood. The cowl cover on the 72-75 is different from the cowl cover on the 76 and up, or at least from 78 and up for sure (not sure on 76 & 77). I couldn't tell from the pictures which cowl cover you have for sure. Having said all that, I still don't think that would be a big deal.

Maybe you could have a graphics maker make your hood decal to fit your jeep or your needs. That's what I did for my eagle....

IMHO-Looks great as is.
Sun's UV, and decals don't mix well.

They will fit just fine. The hood and fenders are the same from 72-86. Go for it. Just don't try to sell it later as something it's not.

Yeah, I don't plan to sell her, but if I did I would be up front about everything. There are so many nearly spot on clones out there these days, it doesn't seem like the renegades are fetching that much more anyway.

Was that a local print shop that did decals? How are they holding up?

Yes it is. 2 Years and so far so good. I am in the north east and uv isn't as strong here as elsewhere, but they are good.
