5-Bolt Lockout Hubs CJ-7

80 CJ7 with a Dana 30, I need to replace my worn out hubs that won't engage and need to identify any suggestions or what to get. They are a 5 bolt, and I would like to go with the Warn Premium's, it seems like everything I see online though says the 80 CJ7 is a 6 bolt? Help...

Sorry, but Warn Premium hubs for the D30 axle are for 6-bolt hubs. With a new 5-bolt hub, you're have to settle for the Standard hubs, if ou want to stay with Warn. Or convert to an older 6-bolt design.

1977 CJ7, AMC360 V8 w/ headers, DUI HEI, Edelbrock intake, Holley 4150 carb, , TF999, D300, D30 front and AMC20 rear with 4.56 gears and lockers both ends, 4" susp lift, 2.5" body lift, 35" BFGs, ARG steering, 8000-lb winch, etc.

I bet someone swapped in wide track axles. My 80 CJ7 has NT axles and 6 bolt hubs.

I replaced my hubs to change from the 5 bolt to the stronger 6 bolt lockouts.
6 bolt hubs and lockouts are getting harder to find but they are still around if you check out the junkyards and ask around 4 wheelers.

Hubs and lockouts from the Scout disk brake Dana 30 fit and the hubs work from the disk brake Dana 44 (but may require a bearing change, if I recall correctly). The lockouts from the Scout2 44 have a larger stub shaft so they are not compatible with the D30 stub shafts.

When looking at old hubs only get the ones that are machined flat on both sides of the flange; these came on disk brake fronts the drum brake hubs are usually only machined flat on one side and are not compatible with disk brakes because the rotor will wobble.

When looking at the lockouts only get those make by Warn and avoid the automatic lockouts on some Scout2s. and always count the splines and measure the splined diameter.

A final point, always use the original bolts ot mount the lockouts; replacement bolts often will loosen with use.

Enjoy!

'06 TJ Rubicon; seemed like a good idea at the time; had many CJs...

Yes they should, I bought a set of Selectro hubs by Milemarker for mine. They seem to be pretty good hubs so far.

Warn made the original late 80's CJ7 hub locks and if you know the right part number, I was told they were still available. I went with the normal Warn 5 bolt lock which is about twice as thick of metal physically and heavy duty as the stock Jeep lockout for the 'heavier duty' performance.

The only issue I had was the center caps won't fit over the Warn locks. I would have had to machine scallops into the round base of them to fit. The shop that sold them offered to do that, but I want all the strength they have seeing as I can explode Jeep hub locks easy enough with my 33x9.5 muds that just don't spin up on dirt, they torque out.
