4WD light on?

Happy New Year fellow Jeepers! I spent the day with my brother on the water in Port Mansfield, TX., didn't catch a whole lot but it was a beautiful day to get on the water here in south Texas. We have been pulling the boat with the old CJ lately, it does a great job! Today for the first time however the 4WD light on the left side of the speedometer came on while we were in 2-High. It's the first time we've ever seen the light actually, normally when we engage 4WD the "brake" light on the right side of the speedometer comes on. I'm thinking that these two lights must be wired backwards...gonna check the brake fluid tomorrow, sometimes the brake light comes on when the fluid is low...and i think the lights are just backwards.

It could be simple as having the wrong light bulb socket into the wrong side of the speedo. You should be able to flip the two around. If the brake light always comes on in 4wd I would say it's safe to assume that should be the other light. The 4wd (really your brake light) means there is a problem detected, check the emergency brake ground, brake fluid levels and for a leak.
