4.2l to 4.0l swap

Ok, I swapped a 92 4.0l in my 82 cj7! I installed a 95 cherokee harness and computer! The cj7 is a manual T5 tranny! Both the harness and computer are out of a automatic! I am having problems with keeping it running when I down shift coming into a stop! It also seems to be running rich! I checked the timing last night and found that the timing is out 8-10 degrees from TDC! I tried to adjust the timing but it kept going back to 8-10 degrees from TDC! It seems to idle fine but that is a whole different story when I get it on the road! Oh, I almost forgot, it is also not accelerating past 55mph on the highway! Can someone help me out here? Much THANKS in advance!

Alright! I did finally hook the computer up to a scanner and found that it was not reading vehicle speed! It was because I did not have the sensor ground grounded properly! So I hooked up the groung from the vss to the sensor ground on the o2 sensor! Its not stalling any more! But I'm still having power problems and I think maybe a misfire! Any suggestions?
